Honey is just the beginning!

I n   addition   to   delicious   raw   honey,   we   have   other   products   made   from   the   beeswax   the   bees produce   for   their   hives.      We   have   beeswax   candles   in   various   shapes,   sizes   and   colors,   lip balm,   and   hand   and   body   cream.      They   are   made   from   all   natural   ingredients   with   no   artificial preservatives.      Because   the   lip   balm   and   hand/body   creams   contain   all   natural   beeswax,   they also   provide   all   of   the   health   benefits   that   honey   bees   put   into   their   beeswax   and   a   very healthy   alternative   to   the   petroleum   based   products   found   in   stores.      Beeswax   candles   burn brighter   and   longer   than   parafin   candles   and   without   the   smokey   residue   and   soot   which   may occur with the parafin candles.

     Pure Wildflower Honey

Honey     is     harvested     each     year     from     local beehives,   while   leaving   sufficient   honey   in   the hives    for    the    colonys’    needs    over    the    winter.      Honey    is    extracted    with    very    light    filtering    to remove   larger   pieces   of   beeswax   while   allowing all    of    the    natural    goodness    to    stay    with    the honey.      This   honey   is   neither   heated   nor   ultra- filtered    so    as    to    preserve    all    of    the    healthy benefits    of    local    honey.        Honey    is    typically bottled    in    both    glass    containters    and    squeeze bottles    with    flip-top    lids    for    easy    dispensing.      Squeeze    bottles    are    all    BPA-free.                The    first harvest   of   the   year   is   usually   in   late   June   or   early July.        Sometimes    demands    exceed    supply,    so contact    us    to    make    sure    there    is    sufficient inventory   for   your   needs.      Bottles   are   typically   16 oz   and   32   oz   containers.      Special   orders   are   also possible for larger quantities and packaging.

Nucleus hives

Five    frame    nucleus    hives    are    made    each year   consisting   of   a   laying   queen   and   4-5 frames     of     brood     and     nectar.          These nucleus   hives   can   be   transferred   to   eight   or ten   frame   hive   bodies   which   should   quickly build    up    a    colony    in    time    for    the    nectar flow    with    sufficient    numbers    to    gather nectar   and   pollen   for   the   season.      Some may    even    grow    sufficiently    to    produce excess   honey   for   the   beekeeper,   although typically   first   year   hives   should   be   allowed to   retain   all   of   their   nectar   and   pollen   for the   survival   of   the   colony   over   the   winter months.

               Queens

Local     queens     are     raised     from     survivor stock    from    only    the    strongest    colonies.      Queens    from    local    colonies    are    carefully selected   to   produce   queens   that   reflect   the strength,   calm   behavior,   and   other   positve traits   that   beekeepers   seek   in   replacement queens.        Contact    us    for    availability    and current prices.
